FINALLY, AN UPDATE!

Ugh, it's true, I've been suffering a HUGE lack of motivation. I hardly ever get anything done these days. I'm still working a few new drawings though. Sorry, guys. ^^; I will try to update a little more regularly. Anywho, so I decided I'm not just gonna use Delightfully Mad just for the Chibi Comics, but for any stupid, random thing that comes to my twisted little mind. I just don't like being confined to one thing, artistically. :3

Did I mention I have NO idea where I put the CD that had all the old Chibi Comics? That's how organized I am. *sigh* >.<;

Urgh, I'm so bad... u_u

Sorry I haven't been updating... I started on a little animation project that I'm not sure I'm even going to finish. I thought I'd have that one finished by Saturday a few weeks ago - but it's taking much longer than I thought. That, and I've been feeling pretty unmotivated to do anything lately...so I haven't gotten anything done for a while. The only thing I've actually worked on lately is one of my ongoing mangas, which I recently revised the entire story for. I'm actually nearly completing its second chapter and have the script already written for the third one.

Also, I'm not sure if I can keep up with a weekly comic. Dammit. No, I'm not discontinuing any of the comics being posted here, I just need to take a step back and plan how I'm gonna handle five comics - yes, five. I think maybe it would be best if I just update whenever I get something done...Or I could dedicate a whole week to drawing newer comics that way I won't have to go into panic-mode whenever Thursday comes up. XD

Someone tell me how to snap out of it and just...DRAW? I have all of these ideas, and nothing's willing to come out. u_u;

The Irrationalness of the rational

And then my youngest sibling does this to me. :| But seriously, I truly do not know why I freak out when I see a slug/snail...I'm cool with everything else, but at the sight of one I scream little girl. >_>;;

Anyway, so this comic was inked and shaded in SAI. The drawing and base coloring was done in Photoshop. It reminds me somewhat of OpenCanvas, but SAI is actually much better. The shading is iffy I know. XD; I posted a much better piece on my DA gallery. :D

In other news, I'm on a serious Tim Burton and Edward Gorey binge lately...I love their work. >_> Yeah.

This is why I'm not a cheerleader

So this was way back when I tried watching sports, and naturally cheered for the home team. Just one of those rare instances where I actually tried watching sports...But really, I never could get into them; and I haven't cared for the Lakers since. XD

Anyway, so this week I planned on posting a newer comic, but here's the strange thing: I was working on it earlier this a couple of days ago, and did the basic sketch of all the panels. The next day, I open the file and I find only one panel completed, instead! And I know I saved every ten minutes when I first sketched it. c_c I checked all of the other files in that folder in case I accidentally saved over another one. Turns out, I didn't...And now I'm left scratching my head as I wonder how the hell those sketches did not get saved, when I know I saved very often. c.c And this isn't the first time that's happened, so I seriously want to know how that happens and why. --; Well, I'll see if I can have a new comic next weekend. ^^;

Aaaaaaand also, I've totally conquered the hell out of SAI. It's almost impossible finding a tutorial that tells you the recommended brush settings - that affects how the color and blending comes out. XD Aaaaaand I wish Copic Markers weren't so expensive...because I seriously want to try them out too... XD; I think I'll be sticking with pencils and watercolors for a good while, not that I'm complaining or anything. I just really want to try new things with my art. XD Well, later all.

Let's learn some French!

AKA: complete misuse of Google Translator. :B And if you already speak French, I guess the joke was killed right on the third panel. XD;

I'm surprised I even have today's comic. I was in such a funk yesterday, and this morning I was feeling pretty down. But a bit of good food, some anime, and listening to some great music picked me right back up. "Ultra Blue" is one of the coolest albums by Hikaru Utada I've heard so far, it's also got one of my favorite songs by her: "Passion" (also featured as the opening theme for Kingdom Hearts II). I've been on a serious J-Pop kick lately. XD;

DISCLAIMER: I do not speak a word of French, I will not be held responsible if the entire population of France decides to hate you for being such a silly platypus, and took my French lessons seriously.

Interview with Dr. Brenfriz

MY DING DING DONG

And if you don't know what I'm going on about, I'm referring to this song:

Quite possibly one of the stupidest songs I've ever heard - and yet it's entertaining, and doesn't make me want to claw out my own eardrums like other songs do. *glaaaares at the Pussycat Dolls* XD;

So, yeah, anyway, UGH, I seriously need to learn to keep my comic art more consistent. x.X; I could start off by, you know...drawing these things ahead of time, instead of waiting until Wednesday or Thursday to have it done! c.c; I want to know Greg Dean, author of Real Life Comics manages to have a new strip up every single
day, and has done so for ten years. >_>;; Let's see if I can have future comics ready for posting from now on... I can't guarantee I'll be successful, since the Chibi Comics and the Brenfriz comics aren't the only comics I'm working on. I also do manga-style comics; and I've got three of them running - one being a collaboration between myself and my good friend Crimson and a fourth one officially under development. Jeez, you'd think this would be my job or something...which would be great, but a professional comic career is NEVER going to happen for me. XD

Other than that, I'm trying to learn how to use Manga Studio - toning with it, at least. I'm gonna try experimenting with it with...with...*bites lip* ... a shoujo manga... x.X;;; Yes...shoujo...I don't know why I've been having this huge urge to work on a shoujo type of thing...Everyone who is familiar with my writing knows my style is dark and gritty, and I like to write science fiction more...So how the HELL am I wandering into "omg kawaii" territory?? c.c; Ugh, may as well get it out of my system while I experiment with Manga Studio. --; I might post pages of it, but don't expect it to be anything epic. I'm not gonna bother writing a script or anything, I'm just experimenting with manga tones.

Damn, I tend to rant a lot. x.X;; Oh, and don't forget to set your clocks forward tonight! At least I think it's forward. :D;; [/helpful. No. Really.]

Why the UPS guy is late

Another old comic brought to you by the year 2003. XD That's Dude, my pet Balrog...He really likes belly rubs and playing fetch. :)

Today's comic was going to be a Brenfriz one...and it's taking longer than I though...Why do the Brenfriz comics always take the longest? The only extra things I do are tryin to ink it in SAI (keyword: try (I'm still failing at it ;~; )) and re-color the lines. Stuff which is basically no different from when I do my regular artwork...except I regularly ink in Photoshop and the lines come out much better. XD I wish I could ink better in SAI...from what I've seen from other artists, the lines come out so nice and clean... =w=;; *le sigh*

And thus, history repeats itself

This time it happened at a Bed Bath & Beyond (overpriced shit is overpriced - that, or I'm just a total cheapskate), I was looking around, hoping to find some new bedsheets when suddenly the little screw in my glasses came off and the lenses fell out. XD Luckily the lenses weren't damaged and I was able to screw it back in...with my fingernail. 8| It happened several times after that until I actually got around to getting an eyeglass repair kit and replace the entire screw. XD Honestly, the weirdest shit always happens to me. c.c;

In other news, has anyone heard about the whole mess that Gene Simmon's son, Nick Simmons plagiarized Bleach? You know as an artist and someone who likes to make comics, I am absolutely disgusted and furious to think that someone would do this! Did he seriously think no one was going to notice?? I wonder if Daddy Simmons is gonna be able to get him out of this one? You know, Tite Kubo, like everyone in the art industry worked hard for his creation...I don't know why anyone would think it's okay to take that, steal it, and profit from it?

You know, if you're a young artist or know one - anyone who is just learning discourage them from committing art theft. They can't just go through Google, grab something, and post it as their own work or trace. Someone will eventually notice and report you. It's not fair that one artist can spend years perfecting their work and building up a reputation, and then comes some idiot looking for attention and rips off that artist.

And know, that upon committing art theft, and whether it's only a few people that know or the entire community you lose all of your credibility. And what are you chances of restoring your reputation? Pretty much impossible. Plagiarism is to art, as what blasphemy is to religion (look, I don't give a shit if you're religious or not, the point is still there). It's among the most unforgivable things you can do as an artist, and no matter how much you try to hide people will still find a way to back it up, and it will never be forgiven. Your reputation as an art thief will always haunt you. So think before you search through Google Images or trace someone's, even with alterations. Do yourself and the art community a favor and please don't commit art theft and especially don't profit from it.

*sigh* It just pisses me off so much. Hmm, and how much you want to bet this little jackass already has an ED article of his own by now? You know I used to think the place was just mean-spirited trolls picking on people for no reason...But looking through so many articles...many people deserve to be there. Nick Simmons is one of them. You don't piss off the internet. Ever. XD

Please leave a message after the tone...or don't... *shrug*

OH MY FUDGESICLES! The comic is up...ON TIME! O___O The whole universe is going to die! >_> Anyway, that's one of my many pet peeves...people calling and never leaving a message. Here's a tip: if you hear the answering machine and don't want to say anything hang up before the beep. c_c

And I just realized the mime's head is off-center... *headdesk*

In other news: I saw this anime called "True Tears" a few weeks ago...Man, the ending pissed me off so much...I'm actually still bitter about it. u_u;;

LET THEM EAT CAEK

Brainfart brought to you by: coffee.

This morning dad and my stepmother brought cake...it was...chooooooooocolaaaaaaate~ 83 Had a couple of slices and combined with coffee...this is the result. :D And then I wonder why I never get anything done. ^^; *headdesk*

Upon the sight of the cake, life became an episode of Flapjack...It also doesn't help that I can do a pretty accurate impression of Flapjack. XD;;; I seriously need to watch the rest of that show. XD And yes, I am in fact batshit insane. :)

...caek? :3

OLD COMIC TIEMS LOLZ

Old comic is old.

This actually did happen to me one morning. I was bright and cheerful as anyone could be, feeling absolutely positive of the world and its many delightful wonders. And then I broke my glasses. Then I was like "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF". 8( Took a week to get them repaired, and the world was blurry.

Ah, Geocities...RIP. X3;;

Interview with Francis

Laaaaaaate, I knoooooooow... ;~; Sorry, you guys, I know I said I'd have a comic up weekly. XD I was stuck working on this one and a massive group picture for a friend of mine. Although it was the other day that I actually remembered that I can post an old Chibi Comic. I had my doubts that I'd be able to find most of the strips, as they were on my Geocities site. But I managed to find a good number of them on a disc. :D So, now I have something to post when I don't have a new Chibi or Brenfriz comic. :D

Oh, Francis...I know just how you feel.

I have a lot on my mind...

Brain farting Karla is brain farting. :B

This is just...one of those thoughts I had one night. I wasn't even thinking of anything breakfast or Ozzy Osbourne-related. XD Sometimes...what goes on in my mind...can be kind of scary...For those of you who know me in real life...be thankful I don't vocalize these things. ^^;

Iiiiiin other news...I have a seriously huge urge to watch the Ghost in Shell series (SAC and 2nd GiG), along with all three films. Even though I've already watched both animes, like, five times. I never get tired of cyborg badassery. <3

The Neurotic Musings of Dr. Brenfriz

The Neurotic Musings of Dr. Brenfriz - a series about the maddest of all mad scientists, Dr. Brenfriz, and his roommate who struggles to keep things in order as well as his sanity in check, Francis.

AKA: more proof that I am indeed batshit insane and I need some serious outlet. :D ...It was either this, or me bitching about Macy's again. XD It's a great little series I've had in my mind for a whole year and even wrote a few scripts. However, the last time my computer crashed the scripts (and scripts for other comics) were lost and I'm hoping to recover them or re-write them from memory - and I have a damn good memory, oh yeah, boyee, fo' shizzle, dawg. :D *is shot* x_x

His name is a play on the word "brainfreeze" - just to be random. XD And Francis...well, he's self-explanatory. :)

I love to make people wait

Ha! Ha! Ruined another customer's day! Go me! The fools do not realize that my job is to make you wait and further inconvenience your already busy day! Take that, people whose lives are obviously more important than mine! >:D

Yeah, this actually happened the following day. When customers ask us to place the items they intend to purchase on hold, we have to write their name down, tape it on to the hanger and if it's more than one item, keep them together with a rubber band. By the time Ms. I'm-too-important-to-wait-for-anything disappeared completely from my sight, I was already finished. And the next register, is right across from mine in the Juniors department; and judging by the direction she was storming off to, she was going to the one that's on the opposite side of the floor. Time saving fail. :D

And I still can't believe they made me handle the entire department all by myself for three and a half hours. What were they thinking?? That was the perfect recipe for disaster. D: However, I showed them how much win I have. :D *flexflex*

Determination, I has it.

Saturday, January 2, 2010

I Am Kira

Based on a true story.

SRSLY U GAIZ Okay, say you're shopping...you ask me to hold the items you plan on purchasing while you go off and plan to return with a card to pay with or whatever. Say you come back and find that your stuff has gotten mixed up in the recovery rack. Okay, we look for your stuff and find it. No money was lost, nothing was damaged, I apologize for my mistake everything is over.

How many of you believe that despite said items are recovered, mean you're entitled to discounts and gift certificates?

Because that's exactly what happened. Bitch even demanded a manager, I thought she was going to try to get me fired. D: I felt horrible my co-workers and the manager, who were all really cool, got involved in that mess...What is it with old ladies and their sense of entitlement?! D8 With the way she was acting, you'd think I just set her house on fire. Let's all calm the fuck down and come back to when life was all fuckin' sunshine and damn butterflies~ :)
